NIULPE License, renew or not?

I have an expired NY NIULPE license (as well as NYC and NJ licenses) and was wondering if there exists any logical reason to renew the NIULPE license? I am not trying to offend anyone, but there seems uncertainty pertaining to the usefullness of the NIULPE license (at least here in NY)
