Filming amines "usually" are feed continuously right into the steam header. Sometimes, depending on site specific conditions, amines will be fed either into the feedwater or into the boiler. There's a couple of considerations. Basically, amines are volatile and will end up going with the steam no matter what. Their purpose is "usually" to provide protection to your condensate return system. Generally, you do not want to mix amines with other chemicals in a common mixing tank. Your vendor should be able to give you some literature on whatever product you are using, or "Google" filming amines such as Thermidaire Thermafilm 304 or whatever Nalco calls theirs. I'm guessing they are all pretty much the same. I wouldn't normally think your packing leak has much to do with the amine treatment. Sometime stuff just happens.
