Yes, it's currently on DCS.
When the boiler reaches a steady state producing 30 to 40 tph the gas burner can be turned off. The operators of the plant burn gas to elevate the steam production of the boiler when sudden demands occur and in the boiler startup.

: Do you need to burn gas to support combustion?

: I would strive to eliminate the use of gas altogether, only to be used as a back-up fuel. If you have dry wood waste this should be achievable.
: If this is not possible, take the fuel flow controller out of the boiler master control loop. Run it at a minimum setting.
