Well, a cast-iron radiator in the home sits there in the room cooling off steam that is sent to it; the condensate returns down the pipe to the boiler.

A boiler sits next to another on a common header. The steam that is sent to it from the other boiler hits the large steaming surface; the same size surface as in the steam drum of the unit that is firing. The steam turns to condensate but IT HAS NO OTHER PLACE TO GO.
