I am looking for the section of boiler and pressure vessel code that discusses the requirements for bottom blowdown on boilers less than 300 psig. From my understanding, this blowdown must be manual but I can't find where it is in the code. I recognize that automated bottom blowdown culd be dangerous if the blowdown vavle locks open, but on something lide a firetube boiler the buners will trip on low level and the temperatures are relatively low. Can someone direct me to the part of the code that specifically says you can't put a timed blowdown on the bottom of a low pressure heat exchanger? Thanks in advance.
