Don't ask a GC; ask a plumbing company that has done conversions before. There are many old companies on LI that have done them.

++ Much attic insulation does help. Wall cavity stuffing with loose fill makes a good hobby.

++ An inexpensive boiler like a Paloma with a buffer tank can do the job while being oversized for water heat, then the heat need reduced.

++ Ordinary supports spaced twice as close as with copper tube. Best Pex is Pex-Al-Pex for this purpose.

: No, there really is a small mudroom (used to be a porch) without a radiator, but it is only one side external exposure and a big radiator right next to the door going into the room.
++ Mudrooms were places where people took off muddy shoes, so weren't completely heated. If you want it heated, do the heat estimate and install the radiation needed.
