Carbon steel economizer tubes and fins should be adequate for continuous operation boiler Upgrade to Duplex stainless steel tubes and stainless steel fins may be required
for cycling boiler operations
Installation adequate for natural gas firing and #2 oil firing
Economizer Installation for Deaerated Feedwater Entering Boiler
Utilizing Continuous Running Feedpumps with Modulating Feedvalve:
During normal operation the boiler feedpump sends the feedwater through
the economizer, modulating feedvalve, and into the boiler.
When the feedvalve is completely shut, a small recirculation line
back to the DA is required to maintain flow in the economizer to avoid a
stagnant flow situation. A stagnant flow situation will lead to economizer
steaming and hammering, possibly leading to economizer and boiler damage.
