: The steam relief valves should be tested at least as often as your boiler safeties, once a year I hope. Common practice is to have a testing company to remove the valves and inspect/repair as nesessary, then test and set the valves with steam at their facility. In some states the valves can be tested in place as an alternative, every other year. Not having reliefs and safeties tested in any system can have bad implications. The above testing schedule is best accomplish if you have a standby relief/safety valve for the years the valves must be removed to keep down time to a minimum.
