My 2 yr old residential (furnace) boiler has always made a noise when the furnace turns on.
The noise is a sharp metalic noise (very much like the hot water pipe being sharply tapped with a wrench) and is transmitted through the whole house along the heating pipes.
The noise is caused by the Honeywell gas valve and coinsides with the relay (inside the gas valve)clicking to energize the spark ignition.
There are actullay two metalic noises - the first when the relay actuates the ignition and a second one about 2 seconds later when the igniter turns off.
Is it normal for this relay to make such a loud noise and especially for this noises to be transmitted along the heating pipes?
How do I eliminate or greatly reduce ths noise?
Many thanks.
