: I had a customer contact me about his company directive to take the continuous blow down from the on line boiler and put it into the off line standby boiler to recover the heat in the blowdown. One boiler is a 6oo HP firetube and the other is a 800 HP watertube.
: I have not heard of this before and I am trying to give my customer a thumbs up or down on this. Anybody have any ideas or comments?

There is a reason the on-line boiler is expelling that water. Putting it into another boiler will anly load it with solids and totally throw the water chemistry off. When that boiler is placed online a significant amount of water will need to be blown out of it to get the chemistry right.
