I have a few Raypak water tube boilers in my schools.
We have had a problem with one boiler in particular.
It started making shuttering sounds like it was overfiring. We tore it apart and found out that the ribbon burners were BLOWN apart. Tubes were destroyed.
Looked like each burner had a 12 gauge shot gun stuck down them and blown out the back.
Why would this be happening?
We had them replaced by OEM rep and they said that it was because they were dirty. I find it hard to believe because we have 5 others with no issues. Gas pressures and air flow is fine within manf requirements. Water flow is fine according to Balance report.
Boilers are only 2yrs old.
After we replaced them they are showing signs of heat treating. metal fatigue spots. they say it is normal.
HELP.
