: Hi, I'm a translator in the power generation industry, currently working on some boiler issues. Can anyone tell me the difference between ash, as in bottom ash, and slag? Are the terms interchangeable?
: Thanks so much for your assistance,

Ash as in bottom ash is the ash that comes out of the bottom of the boiler ash system. Flyash is the fine ash particulates that are carried out of the furnace with the flue gas path. Slag as the ash that reaches its fussion temperature and forms as a "clinker"
