Firing methane (landfill) gas in firetube boiler problems

I have a customer that is firing two (2) 800 HP dryback boilers off of landfill gas (methane). Since then, he has experienced a lot of sticky buildup in the tubes of his boilers. In addition, the kaowool insulation in the top half or his rear door is disintegrating (has almost vanished/completely been eaten up). In addition, the refractroy is starting to show major wear and cracking. Can someone give me some insight on situations you have seen? and any possible solutions?
