: AFTER MUCH CONVERSATION WITH MY FELLOW POWERPLANT ENGINEERS AND MANAGERS I FIND MYSELF ASKING IF THERE IS
: A STANDARD PROCEDURE FOR PREPARING A BOILER FOR INSPECTION.AFTER REPAIRS TO STRUCTUAL DAMAGE ON OUR
: 40,000#/HR HEAT RECOVERY BOILER I'VE RECOMMENED A LONGER COOL DOWN PERIOD AFTER THE UNIT IS TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE.MY RECOMMENDATION WAS AT LEAST A 24 HOUR COOL DOWN.PRESENTLY THEY ARE ONLY ALLOWING LESS THAN 8 HOURS.I'VE ALSO REQUESTED A LONGER WARM UP PERIOD WHEN BRINGING THE UNIT BACK ON LINE.THE BOILER RECEIVES ITS ENERGY FROM THE EXHAUST OF A GAS TURBINE USED TO DRIVE A GENERATOR.THE PLANT HAS AMPLE BOILER RESERVE TO MEET PLANT DEMANDS DURING DOWN TIME OF THE MENTIOED BOILER
