: : : Hey all, looking to get some study material for the MD,DC,and NIULPE exams. They must base the tests on certain books, right? Anyone know what books/reference material would work for the tests?

: : Boiler Room Questions and Answers,or any of the "Standard" series written or co-authored by Steve Elonka. Steam Plant Operation , Woodruff/Lammers
: : You should also study some Refrigeration,Basic Electricity, Instrumentation & Control subjects.
: : If you contact someone from the local NAPE Chapter in DC or Maryland they can probably give you great advice on where to focus your studies.

: Unfortunately, NAPE doesn't have a prep course for DC tests anymore, just high pressure steam, which I don't necessarily want since my company doesn't have steam at all. I'm just looking to pretty much get the license as a resume filler. I've heard of people doing prep classes on the side but I can't find any now.

Bullard Industrial Technologies, Inc. offers license preparation courses for the DC licenses but unfortunately, unless you can prove whatever the DC minimum is for hands-on operating expereience on steam boilers and/or steam turbines, they won't let you take a license examination.
