The paint is still covering the grease fitting on the fan end of the motor and the shaft end has no signs of ever being grease. You guys that have been around these things longer than I have must know the life expectancy of such motors. We are giving the boiler its first major hydrowash/cleaning. We do a yearly cleaning but not as in depth as the company we hired to clean it. Would this be a good time to change this motor or could it still have alot of years left? thanks
Even though grease fittings are present, if no grease has ever been added the motor most likely has sealed bearings. Motors with these bearings usually have the fittings removed and replaced with plugs.
If there are no problems with the motor, there is no reason to change it unless you want to upgrade to a high efficiency motor, which your motor may not be due to its age.
