: Does any one have any Experience with weld overlay on floor tubes and how it holds up???

: Thanks Hank

pad welding is opening a can of worms. however sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. our boiler is a 150,000 kpph fluidized bubbling bed boiler. we use sand for bed material. where the pad welding is done it takes the metalizing off the tube. that protective coating being jepordized creates a local for fast erosion of the tubes. so the moral is that yes pad welding will increase the run time in the thinnest tube areas but decreases the run time of the tubes around each individual weld. if your boiler isn't a giant sand blaster you may have more luck. hang in there and pray for new tubes.
