"lou" is correct......the boiler fabricators do not make thier own drum heads and they com in descrete sizes. Boiler fabricators must live with this.

I do not believe you will ever see a 35 inch steam drum from a US boiler supplier. Boiler designers, however, can vary the boiler length, tube size, drum internals and other parameters to come up with an acceptable design.

Boiler drum size is an important parameter to evaluate when comparing boiler bids or quotes. "Bigger" is better for the same steaming rate.

Very large, high pressure boilers (such as those used in utility power generating station) usually require custom fabrication of boiler steam drums.....custom fabricated drums can, of course, be the exact size demanded of the customer
