I am trying to find the BLRBAC recommened answer and not having much luck. I do not see why you would ESP though as there is no risk of water entering the furnace. I believe you should trip the boiler and allow the bed in the furnace and the smelt in the dissolving tank to cool. You should probe the smelt in the tank to ensure it is cooled. I'll post later if I can get a proper response.
