Now days there are lot of pressure to operate the power plants on free governing mode. This will have large cyclic variation on the parameters to be maintained by the boiler. Hence in transients this can overshoot the allowable range. Apart from fatigue relate stress and tube failures due to lower flexibility, what are the factors to be considered before discussion on this. In the case of low reactive high ash coals this has to be viewed with care. Can some one comment on such experience and the care to be taken. Also the number of cycles and the range of the variation may please be discussed.
