: : : We have Clayton E0-100 Boilers at our facility...normally they work fine without too many problems however we have one now that seems to be short-cycling or shutting off no matter that there's a demand for steam and not coming when it's needed! Everything seems to be functioning properly except for the fact that it shuts off before the demand is such that it should be shutting down! We gone over it and one of our thoughts is that the separator is not functioning properly thus giving the controls the indication that the pressure switch is satisfied...has anyone had this problem before??? Any help would be appreciated...thanks, Joe

: It's gas, the option is there for oil but we don't use if often...since posting this message some told me it could be the check valve that is built into the angle stop valve that is on top of the separator...
check the gas pressure (low pressure switch) if there is a large draw or demand it goes to high fire the gas pressure drops tripping the boiler on gas pressure the boiler will restart and run fine we had this happen on a bigelow boiler.they put a building in down the road and this changed the gas pressure on the street during cold weather a easy way to find out if this is the problem if the boiler makes a howling sound in high fire this could be it good luck
