No. 1 - (a) Rod will expand 0.0015 units per unit length. If the drum is drum is 6.71 meters long (22 ft) sheet-to-sheet, then the stay rod expands 10.07 mm (0.40 in)when warming from 70F to 300F. (b) Yes, it's the right equation, pretty much. (c) Use a tape measure. You have to know either the initial or final length of the stay rod. The eqn only tells you how much it lengthens.
