: Boilers operating over 100 PSI require 2 bottom blow valves. One valve can be quick opening and one valve must be slow opening. In that case the quick opening valve should be next to the boiler and opened last and closed first. Over 125 PSI the valve and piping must be extra-heavy.
: : can anyone tell me what the asme requires for bottomblow valves and when
: : is two valves required.
I will reserch further, but to my understanding;
when 2 valves are required (125 and over)
the quick valve open first (to avoid water hammer), then the "slow opening Yee Valve"; close the quick first then the slow opening.
ASME B31.1: the valve and piping to be 1.25 times the boiler trim setting (trim: safety valve setting) up to the second valve after that, the jurisdiction takes over (local boiler Inspector). I hope that this will help.
