I do not have much experience in the change.
I can tell you that the only problems would be if you are using electronics to control water level, the sensitivity of the sensing circuit may not be comparable to the existing, you may need sensitivity greater than 25K ohms.
On the other hand you have to work in changing your chemistry in the feed water or the vessel will corrode quickly, consult a water specialist in this matter.
