: In our boiler room we use the addition of Volamine to increase pH, which we measure from a pipe containing condensate returns from the plant. We add the Volamine in the needed amounts to each operating boiler. Are there other better methods of pH control, especially how and where it is added?
That's right pH must be checked from the source like in condensate line & further to deaerator & boiler water. You can dose ph booster with LP e.g. deaerator dosing if you want to maintain boiler water ph.However since boiler feed water source starts with condensate it is essential to dose the pH booster in condensate line to deaerator to solve two purpose 1).Preventing water line from corrosion.2).To maintain pH upto 8.5 to 9 from deaerator outlet water so as to get final Ph at boiler after tri sodium phosphate dosing or HP Dosing of the order of 10.7 to 11.5.
