Aside from just costs of fuel to fuel, there are other considerations as to the efficiency of gas in an oil boiler. Gas does not have a radiant emmission on the scale of oil flame, so much of the chamber absorption effect is lost. This leaves the passages to extract more of the heat that used to be absorbed by radiation in the chamber. The maximum input might have to be reduced to improve efficiency. There is also the question of fuel tank elimination.
