All boilers that are manufactuered with a National Board number stamped into the shell should also have the year built stamped onto the shell plate. Look for a removable plate on the jacket and remove the insulation to expose the stamping. There will be other numbers as well such as the boiler manufacturers serial number, shell thickness, and maximum allowable pressure rating. I might also recommend that you look for a certificate of inspection if there is a state or local inspection agency that performs regular inspections. The certificate will or should have the year the boiler was manufactured.
