I have a low pressure steam application where I will be using a steam shower to remoisten paper. The shower will use 500 lbs of steam per hour at 4 psi. I would like to use a low pressure boiler. Can I use a 15 hp boiler (517 lbs per hr) or should I upsize to 20 or even 25 hp. One boiler manufacturer states a 15 hp is enough. Another has told me to use a 1.5 ratio or factor to account for innefficiencies in the boiler and piping losses.
