Your procedure seems sound yet I'm concerned that if it is your charge to oversee the operations of these boilers that this should be old school for you. Low water conditions have been the leading cause of incidents over the past ten years. If you've been out of the field for awhile I would recommend that you take a refersher course. There are many companys that teach 2 & 3 day refresher classes. One you can reach @ NTTINC.com. I would also recommend that you get a copy of 2001 ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code VII ( Recommended guidlines for the care of power boilers). You can order this @ ASME.com. Also go to www.Nationalboard.org. As always you should be able to contact your local boiler inspector.
