I manage a 27-unti building in NYC. We have an H.B. Smith series 28A-6 boiler (15 PSI steam, 50 PSI water). Tenants have been complaining for some time about fast and drastic changes in water temperature. I've had a new mixer installed and the coils checked and clean. And still the problem persists.
A plumber I spoke with said that installing vacuum breakers on any washing machines (approx. 7 out of 27 units) could solve the problem.
Anyone have experience with this or suggestions?
Thanks!
