: When we blow down our 400 psi boiler, the water goes straight into a waste water tank. In the line there were what they called separators. Anyone know what these were used for? It seems to me you can't have that kind of pressure going straight into a wastewater tank...any input? I'm not sure why they removed them.
Thanks for everyone's input. I thought that the separators were precisely that(to minimize the pressure)The tank it's going into is a wastewater tank, and I'm not sure that it was designed for water under that kind of pressure. It also bothers me that the line has several right angles in it, and although there isn't much I can do about the integrity of the decision to do it that way, I can warn the operators to stay away from those areas during the blowdown process...thanks
