All burners are designed to operate within very specific ranges of CO2.
If you would like more information on testing and acceptable readings, check out www.bacharach-training.com . I think you will find some helpful information there.
Do keep in mind that most of the recommended ranges are listed as O2 but that CO2,O2 and excess air are just different ways of saying exactly the same thing. The conversions from CO2 to O2 are listed in the reference section.
