: I was in a high school boiler room recently. The operator told me his condensate tank keeps running low and as a result his boilers have shut down automatically. What would the causes be to have such a loss of make up water? Curious!!!

Leo. If this system has a return Cond. loop there
may be a check valve thats hung up or broke. if
so your not getting full Cond Return, and using
excess Make-up Wtr./little or no Cond return.
if this is the case you might have return cond pumps that that are squealing due to back pressure
and possibly flooding,I,ve seen this happen!without the full cond return the make-up Wtr.valve
could not keep up. Do not confuse Cond Return with
Make-Up Wtr. good luck
M.
