We have had a lot of success with a forged pressure seal gate valve like that Velan makes. A bellow seal valve will also give you longer life but this is not recommended for larger diameter applications.
All valves in steam have a hard time. If they are normally closed they tend to stick. If they are normally open they tend to wear on the seat. Much depends on the quality of steam in the system. Very good quality steam will lead to longer lasting valves. If you are getting body leaks, then go to a better manufacturer with a world-wide reputation of quality control in the manufacturing process.
