No, replacing your unheated feedwater tank would not cause
that problem. To prevent oxygen pitting in your boiler, you need
to remove the oxygen. This is done by (1)Mechanical deaeration and (2)by the
use of oxygen scavenging chemicals such as sodium sulfite. This can
be done by oxygen scavengers alone or in combination with mechanical
deaeration. The most effective method is the use of both means. If you
do not have a D/A tank, heat your feedwater as hot as possible to drive off
the oxygen.


: could the replacement of a non-heated feed water tank. be the cause of the pitting on the tubes.if not please make any suggestion to get rid of the disssolved oxgyen
