The most common cause is carry over due to heavy demand. It may be that your boiler is undersized for certain peak loads and the water is actually being sucked out into the steam line. I suggest that you throttle the main steam valve to reduce the carry over.

A second possibility may be that the water feeder is malfunctioning and allowing too high a water level.Is your water level normal?
