I keep getting conflicting stories about the requirements for a stationary engineer/boiler operator in CA. I've heard that the water capacity of the boiler, as well as the power are factors. I've also heard about something called a "California Special" 9.9 hp boiler designed to sneakk under this regulation. Can anyone point me to a source for the rules (union or otherwise) that specifiy this, or the regulations website? I checked Title 8, Section 781, but it didn't seem too clear. I need to put together a budget, and have to have proof of whether we are required or not required to have an operator.
