If you have 3 boilers, but only need one on-line for most of the year, I'd consider draining one boiler, and laying it up dry. Unless you have a process load that requires a boiler on hot standby, I'd consider using a nitrogen blanket on the other boiler. You only need a couple of PSI to keep the air out. You can get a bottle of gas and a regulator at any welding supply outfit. I think that a steam blanket could cause expansion problems with your boiler. There won't be any water circulation unless you fire the boiler, so the steam space, and top layer of water will be hot, while the rest of the boiler is cool.
