: Last heating season my steam boiler started using much more water than in past years. I had to add water about every three days. I understand from past messages on this site that this can be caused by a hole in the boiler, a hole in one of the pipes or bad radiator vents. I dont't think it is the vents, but what I dont know is if there is a test to tell whether there is a hole in the boiler or one in a pipe?
: Thank for any help you can give me.

Take a sample of the feed and boiler water.
Analyse both samples for TDS
Continue analysing samples of the boiler water say ones a week.
1- If of the original feed and boiler water TDS of boiler water > feed water
TDS concentration of boiler water will increases when leak is in steamside of your system
TDS concentration will decrease when leak is in waterside of your system
2- If of the original feed and boiler water TDS of boiler water = feed water
TDS concentration of boiler water will increases when leak is in steamside of your system
TDS concentration will remain equal when leak is in waterside of your system.
Good hunting
