I got my info from the Association 0f Water Technology water treatment mathematics workshop
reference manual. There is a chart called the Salt Brine Calculator.
One column is labeled lbs. brine NaCl/gal of water. At 100% that column says
2.647/7.38. I went back to some of the example problems, and they use this column for lbs. of salt per
gallon of water. So apparently 2.647 lbs. salt per gallon
is the correct answer for 100% brine. The other column is labeled
lbs. salt/gal. water. That column says 2.987. What does your coworker say is the correct
amount?
