: We had a magnet man a while back peddling his wares stop by. We use treated waste water (40%) and well water (60%) as our cooling tower make-up. It is pretty agressive and in some of our smaller heat exchangers we get all kinds of problems. We offered him to install his equipment on one of two identical heat exchangers for a few months as a test. Then, we would tear them both apart and compare results. He did not want to do this and quickly backed off. We haven't heard from him since.
