We run a fleet of 5MBtu/h mobile boilers as a part of a pipeline repair system. Naturally they don't last very long (fresh, cold, dirty water; everytime = oxidation, shock, overheated tubes). We've started experimenting with a stainless steel heat exchanger, and now keep clean treated water in the boiler. I'd like to use a biodegradable oil instead of the water so as to run to 150 C without having to worry about everything being pressurized. I've heard of this kind of oil for hydraulic systems, but don't know if it can handle the temperatures reached inside a boiler. Does anybody have any pearls of wisdom for me? Has this been tried before? My thanks in advance
