Which detector you use is really dependant on the fuels you burn. A infra-red detector will work well on an oil flame but not so well on a natural gas flame, while, a UV detector will work best on natural gas. If burning gas you may want to look at the installation or even try a different manufacturer.

i need to know if a uv flame detector is better than a infra red detector because with the uv sensor i keep having to replace them every 2 to 3 months i get 5.0 readings when new then it starts getting lower readings to the extent of shutting the boiler down on flame failure im keeping the tube clean and the eye clean also thanks
