If you are asking if the ASME Construction Codes identify what is needed, the information is not there. Most Jurisdictions rely on the information contained in the Uniform Mechanical Code, Uniform Building Code, OSHA requirements, and NFPA documents for assuring buildings are protected. Also, most Jursdictions have verbage within the various Ordinaces that require one to follow certain National or Recognized Standards. In addition, local and state fire requirements provide direction in proper protection. Your property insurance carrier also maintains certain standards which, unless money is no object, when used can reduce the cost of insurance premiums if a building is properly protected.
