Senior Mechanical Engineer - Palo Alto, CA
Responsibilities:
-Specify, design and optimize key components in the solar field to drive down cost, improve performance and deliver safety and longevity.
-Develop new ideas with a rigorous design, analysis and testing methodology.
-Work across departments to drive an end-to-end view of engineering design: spanning research and development, procurement, engineering, manufacturing, field construction, operations and maintenance.
-Contribute to a wide array of projects spanning multiple fields.
-Create models and draw parts as needed (SolidWorks).
-Manage outside contractors in executing necessary design, testing, and certification of some components and systems.
-Represent Ausra in technical due diligence processes with potential customers and partners.
-Mentor other engineers.
Qualifications:
-Degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
-At least 8 years of mechanical design experience.
-Professional Engineer certification in California is a big plus.
-Familiarity with SolidWorks a plus.
-Proven ability to work effectively in a matrix environment, in cross-disciplinary efforts, and through multiple departments to achieve goals and objectives.
-A self-starter who can work independently and also thrive in a dynamic team environment.
Must be willing to submit to a drug screen and background investigation (motor vehicle record, criminal, education and prior employment).
