Hi there, I have a question about minimum hot-water boiler temperature and cold starts.
Here's my story. I have a shop in the extremely cold Northern Minnesota with in-floor heat system. It has a two loop setup with a loop for the boiler side and one for the system side with an injection pump between them controlled by a Taco PC705-2 injection mixing control.
The Taco control can control the propane boiler temp as desired. I set it to somewhere around 180F because I believe there is an issue with boiler condensation. I only need around 100F and lower boiler temps = higher efficiency.
The shop is only heated for about a month total every year and I cold start the system a few times every year from as low as ~ -15. The boiler is an old Slant-Finn GG125 125k btu I bought used for $100. I plan on replacing with an electric boiler in a few years.
Can I drop the boiler temp and not worry since it's getting chucked in a relatively short time anyways?
Any thoughts?
