I own a 2700 sq ft house that has two apartments in it, up and down and is serviced by one steam boiler. I had electric baseboard heat installed in the down stairs apartment so the upstairs tenant would use the steam boiler for heat. I though I could shut off the down stairs radiators by closing the steam valve. I've learn that even shut off they let a small amount of steam into the radiator. Is there a way to plug the valve. I thought I might remove the radiator from the valve and plug the line with some time of packing material. Any suggestions?
