What is the consensus on the replacing my unit?
I have a lot of water in the system ( the whole system is inch and a half and the loop is huge). My boiler works great, the old bell and gossett circulator works great too..I hate to fix something that isn't broken..but...my boiler is HUGE. When it lights, it's like a vacuum in the house from the air movement.
Is a modulating boiler like a munchkin or a peerless pinnacle a good idea? or do the newer cast iron boilers have a modulating burner?
Fix something that isn't broken or ?
: Actually with the large water volume of the system, you will probably see condensation for a good part of the heating cycle. DO get a heat loss done. Your old boiler was probably way over sized to begin with. No nned for a buffer tank, but size the unit correctly so you do not short cycle
