Ah, a new (old) house and just a few problems! The latest: The house has an oil fired Burnham boiler for steam. Heating contractor in respose to question about adding a lot of water, glanced at it, and told me Burnham had defective boilers around the 1999 period and this one most likely has a crack and will need to be replaced. Crack has been confirmed. He feel it is possbile to replace the "block?" with a Williamson as he feels it is a better unit. This process will be about $1000. less than a totaly new boiler. Was not expecting this one and need to keep the cost down. Any thoughts? Thanks.
