I have an oil fired boiler used to heat my home in Maine. I have serviced it many times over they years and there is no part that i have not had apart and put back together or replaced.
earlier in the season i cleaned the entire chamber, replaced the nozzle and all filters as well as the eye.
I noticed the other night that it was fairly loud. i went down and removed the side panels and noticed an excessive build up of soot on the outside of the boiler around the clean out doors. When i fired it up I noticed some traces of smoke/exhuast leaking around the cleanout doors.
I cleaned off the excess soot and resealed around the doors with furnace cement. Later that evening I fired the boiler back up and all was well.
Last night I fired up the boiler and again found it to be very loud. There seems to be exhuast coming from every possible part of my boiler. I shut it down and put on my reserve electric heat.
Any thoughts on what might be the root of this problem? Any help would be appreciated.
